It is necessary to point this out, because the President and his allies have made the false claim that GOP members and staff have been precluded from attending or asking questions — nothing could be further from the truth.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) was kicked out of Fiona Hill’s interview because he is not a member of any of the three committees that are participating in the impeachment investigation. Another Trump defender, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has been spreading lies about how Democrats are conducting the impeachment investigation in the House basement without Republican participation.
The big difference is that the Republicans will lie about anything in order to further their cause. And the press does not call them on it most of the time.

That is not to say that the Democrats don't lie, but their lies tend to be more the little white lies.
