I sort of liked Sagan's Cosmos, and have the book too. Then he came out to Oregon, the tree-growing capital of the world, and said "Cutting trees is dumb." (literally, he said that.)

That's when I lost interest in him. Cutting tree is, in fact, quite smart. They grow back, you know. In Oregon they grow like gang busters.
