You buy quality stocks like MSFT at heavy discounts to historical valuations (like today) or in comparison to the rest of the markets (like MSFT today) and tuck it away.

Exactly... Tier 1 dominant stocks like DELL, MSFT, and CSCO should be bought on any significant pull back. Your odds of success are high. Every once in a while one of these "monsters" will pull back and give the opportunity... doesn't happen often, but when it does you need to be ready. Believe it or not, CSCO had a confidence problem a few years back... same with DELL a couple of months ago.
