It's quite irresponsible to make this sort of announcement and I think it indicates desperation on their part. Moreover, this would not be acceptable to Inprise or any other respectable vendor. There is a reason for the policy of not commenting on acquisition rumors. They've not only broken that long-standing rule of business but they have been rather brazen about it. For that reason I would not trust them. How are the lawsuits going? Do you suspect any criminal wrongdoing or is this just shareholders litigation?

PRELIMINARY INTEREST OF POSSIBLE ACQUISITION...

Excuse me? Which one of those do you want to examine first? Are they a software company or a comedy troop? Breaking common sense rules simply to jack up the price of your stock (or attempt to do so) will eventually backfire. Inprise is looking for a services company, not yet-another-case-tool vendor. They're growing on trees and there are few good ones. Somebody may buy SLCTY but for pennies on the dollar.
