I don't disagree with the underpaid status...if he could have put up the numbers for another year. He only had one good year of three, and had a massive signing bonus before he even hit the field. I was glad to see it (holdout talk) was all rhetoric and he was prepared to honor his contract.

That being said, I also hope that the Packers take care of him. Certainly he won't get as much as he would have had he not had the injury, but hopefully he can come back.

Catch 22 in signing 5 year deals isn't it? Allows for a bigger signing bonus because the team can spread the singing bonus out for salary cap purposes....but the player is stuck with a potentially below market contract if they really do well.

Personally, I think incentive based contracts or one year deals should be the norm, but that will never happen.
