There's an unusual bifurcation developing. Economically speaking, the American standard of living may be in the process of deteriorating. At the same time, American corporations are in great shape, characterized by low debt, solid balance sheets and rising productivity. The profit picture in the aggregate is great.

Whether or not the economy is seen as great or as poor depends on which part of the economy someone's talking about.

This is a long way of saying that your "profits", if you mean investments, should be good and steadily getting better. But maybe you meant something else when you said:

Sadly I fear the profits will be short term as the fiscal future is frightening.
