So let them close down the government for a week or so, unpaid of course. I am not even sure I will notice.

I agree that Gordon Brown probably deserves and entry in the Guiness book of trading busts for the worst timing every. Then on the other hand it was Gordon who stopped the freeze in the credit markets by guaranteeing interbank lending for British banks before anybody else did on Oct 2008. That was a timely and necessary move.
