IN-STAT: CHIP SALES GROWTH WILL TICK UP TO 30.1% BY 2001 -- Today during the third and final day of market research firm In-Stat's 13th Annual Microelectronics Forum in Scottsdale, Ariz., it was predicted worldwide semiconductor sales will grow only 5.6% in 1997, and that growth will still be relatively limited at 12.9% in 1998, and 15.2% in 1999. According to the five year report, annual worldwide semiconductor sales growth will then increase to 30.1% by the year 2001. One factor said to be driving this growth would be a continually heating U.S. economy. In-Stat: 602 483-4440.
