To All: I think this volatility is due to AG taking the monetary aggregates down too fast from the overfuelling of same due to unfounded Y2K fears(See my past post on this item). Now he is sucking funds out of the system and financial instrument inventories are being sold off. Simply put the dealers don't have the cash to hold onto as much stock. Then with the continued increase in rates the cost of dealing in securities gets more expensive and again the spreads increase at the same time. This guy is killing the golden goose. I hope Gore and Clinton are making his weekend miserable. JFD
