The essential premis of the voucher proposal is that the private sector is always better than a public institution. It elevates competition to the level of a religious revelation. Furthermore, support of vouchers necessarily undermines any tax system we have. If you can prove that education for the poor is improved by school vouchers, then fine. There is still the issue of separation of church and state with regards to religious schools, but that's another point. What I reject is the argument that one shouldn't have to pay for what one doesn't use. I personally have never been to Idaho, but I can't refuse to pay taxes for federal projects there. Pacifists have to pay for the military. People in Ohio must therefore pay for public schools whether they choose to use them or not. (There is a difference between getting out of a drug ridden inner city school and getting out of a good suburban high school.) I amazes me how consistently wrong you are.
