john, don't be too naive. There's no guarantee some security companies would come up a solution to protect all the consumers out there. Do you think the adware protection companies might actually write those adware to generate sales for themselves ? Similar things can occur in virus protection companies. No one can prove this is not true. Also the gadgets we are using are designed not to last longer than you think. For instance, the light bulb we are using can actually last a lot longer than those we are using. It is intentionally to get burnt out more sooner than it should be. So we consumers have to keep buying the stuff to generate sales for GE. And the idea to hook up all of our home appliance to the web is just stupid. Someone can go to your home thru the internet to screw up all your TVs, light switches, air conditioners, etc. I don't trust the concept of network appliance and the way to protection against network intrusion. It is just another way to steal your money.
