Ah Jerry, If I only had the words to write to bring you to the true knowledge of God in Jesus The Christ. Fortunately, only the Holy Spirit of God can convince one of that truth. All I can do is state the things I know. There was a time in my life when I knew not God nor cared anything about His existence. One day I picked up a New Testament and began to read. There came in my mind the picture of a person who went about doing good. That, thought I, was the type of person I wanted to know. To make a long story short, I began attending a Baptist church, studying the Bible(OT & NT). One night the truth of Jesus flashed into my mind, I accepted Him as The Messiah. The most magnificient thing in the entire creation happened to me. The Holy Spirit came into my heart. I went for years not really understanding the meaning of that event. The NT studies with the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, have helped me KNOW what it means to be born the second time. This is a birth from God The Father. A regenerated Holy Spirit within me that I didn't have because I was born spiritually dead to God. This is what Adam caused, the spiritual death of mankind. Jesus , on the other hand came and paid the price for sin, which is death. With my sin debt paid, and my acceptance of the work of Jesus on the cross, I am set free from the consequences of sin and given new spiritual life in Christ Jesus. Praise His name, worthy is The Lamb who was slain in my place. You see, He took the punishment I deserved.
Jerry, you too can have this wonderful relationship with God the Father thru Jesus The Christ. Do yourself a big favor and pray over the New Testament, then begin to read, asking God for the truth.
You will never ever regret it.
