Jerry, I must say you are really a live wire. You perk this thread up. And you are exactly correct, "To know Him is to Love Him ." Actually, the more important thing is for Him to know you. If He doesn't know you, then you are dead in trespasses and sin. Mat 7:22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?' Mat 7:23 Then I will declare to them, 'I NEVER KNEW YOU; go away from me, you evildoers.'
"If you may be wrong about God your soul may be in jeopardy!"(sic) Good advice my friend, consider it wisely and prayerfully.
"Far better that you KNOW HIM with a great degree of certainty than preach an "uncertain" doctrine." I'm in total agrrement with you on this also. Jesus Christ isn't an uncertain doctrine. I personally know Him because I have a relationship with Him. He is alive. To know this one must accept Him.
" It is "pure" Knowledge which leads to a higher plane, that of empirical evidence and veracity." Here I disagree. Knowledge doesn't lead one to God, who is the higher plane. " For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart." Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, God decided, through the foolishness of our proclamation, to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks desire wisdom, but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.(1 Cor 1:19-25)
Gal 4:16 Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?
Last, but not least, "John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
God loves you, Jesus died in your place!
