Doug:

You raise a good point about "free cash flow". I did notice that their capital expenditures were a "couple of hundred million" higher than their depreciation level for 1996. However, I do not have a historical perspective on this. My guess is that their free cash flow is much better than it has been in years past. But this is admittedly based on anecdotal evidence. eg Talk of them recycling the same fab equipment to produce ppro as was used to produce the pentium. Given that this difference is less than 20% of one quarters cash flow and does not seem out of line with their revenue growth, I don't feel uncomfortable about this spread.

I know this information is available in the sec filings, probably on-line. But I'm far too lazy to go find it. (At least I admit it). Surely there is someone out there reading this that gets a sense of accomplishment from quickly and efficiently finding this kind of information and posting it here for the rest of us to read.

If not, take heart in the fact that Christmas is coming and good things come to those that wait. Actually analyzing the numbers would be a bit like peeking wouldn't it?

Best Regards,

Greg Gimelli
