No educated person since the Greeks has thought that the world was flat. Columbus surmised a smaller world than Eristophanes (?) and undertook a stupid voyage. Furthermore, there is no evidence refuting evolution. Thus, in this case, the view of the scientific community can be assumed to be correct by default. The same holds true for the theories of gravity and relativity.
