Ian is correct that BTB is not a perfect indicator. One analyst has found that "Bookings deliver better predictive information than the BTB."

I haven't run any regressions but my working hypothesis would be that some combination of (1) chip prices; (2)consumer sentiment; and (3) fab capacity utilization might have some predictive value.
