Council members emphasized that there was nothing technically preventing the mosque from amplifying its call to prayer, even without amending the city's noise ordinance, and compared the amplification to the chiming of church bells. This is the first analogy that came to my mind. When my parents' church installed an electronic, amplified "churchbell" in the late 80s there were lots of complaints. I hated to hear the damn thing on Sunday mornings, too. Difference is that with the mosque, it's five times a day, everyday. That would drive me to drinking. Derek
