The importance of determining a vehicles lane is in respect to divided highways. That way the dispatcher knows whether to send emergency vehicles to the North or Southbound lanes (for example) in a divided highway situation. Could make life or death difference of 15-30 minutes. I'm not sure what the accuracy of Snaptrack is but I wouldn't use that statement to conclude it is 10 feet (although it may be).
