How do we respond given these hypothetical facts:

A. Assume that there is no heaven, and this is the only world/existence there is.

B. Assume we cannot agree when a human being comes into existence, but reasonable arguments could be made both ways, requiring us as a society (via our legislators) to make choices.

C. Assume that if there is an error to be made, it should be made in favor of preserving life.

Shouldn't this lead us to restrict abortions except in extreme cases, without at all having to invoke religious doctrines in support of that view?
