wpckr: Why would a stationary power fc bought in the next few years be obsoleted a few years later? The fc's that are produced ten years from now will be a whole lot cheaper to buy, but they may not be a whole lot better.

ERC, for example, expects its early fc's to be 50-55% efficient (ignoring any value of the heat), with a later target of 58%. That shouldn't make the early ones obsolete. I'm sure whatever Ballard produces 10 years from now will be somewhat better than its first units, but that doesn't mean that everyone will wait ten years before buying one.

What I expect to happen is that early units (regardless of fc producer) will get bought by those to whom they are the most valuable, like users in high smog areas. Later on, only if/when the price comes down enough, will buyers who don't care about the environmental benefits buy them.
