Just want to butt in here again and say that I think Iomega's customer service is highly stressed out right now; it took me more than 45 minutes on hold (toll call, not an 800 #) to get a customer support tech yesterday and he was irrascible to boot, obviously overworked and irate under pressure. I think Iomega needs more customer support people and more phone lines installed.

I just installed my Zip drive yesterday after my 200 Mb. Syquest died 2 months out of warranty (what a piece of junk) and I must say it is a beautiful thing. However, Iomega is only packaging a short 3 ft. DB25male to DB25male SCSI system cord with the Zip, completely inadequate for those users of tower Macintoshes that due to space necessitites need to place their CPU more than 2 1/2 feet away from their Zip drives. The DB25male is not a standard SCSI link and most mail order Mac computer suppliers do not have ANY DB25M to DB25M cables in stock at the longer lengths. Custom cable houses charge as much as $40.00 for custom SCSI cables. One solution I have found is that you can get a 50pinFemale Centronics SCSI to DB25Female converter adapter so that you can turn a regular DB25M to 50pin Male SCSI cable into a Zip friendly cable. This adapter is only about $7.00 and is available from Cables Unlimited (800-609-7550).

Hope this info is helpful to somebody.

long on IOMG by necessity
