re "From my understanding it's a universal formula once an established "period" is used.", Wilder's 'throw one out' method for calculating RSI is a bastardized EMA. EMA's remember back to the big bang; results will vary if the calcs don't use the same # of bars.
MSWin acknowledges the EMA problem by giving you the option in the Explorer to load the min for speed at the expense of accuracy.
