Paracelsian Announces European Distribution Agreement for Dioxin Test Kit ITHACA, N.Y., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Paracelsian, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PRLN - news) announced today that it has signed a distribution agreement covering the European community with Belgium based Cypress Diagnostics CBVA for its patented Dioxin test, the Ah Immunoassay. The kit can be used to quickly, accurately and in a cost-efficient manner detect dioxin and dioxin-like compounds within incinerator ash, food, soil, water, or even the blood of wildlife or humans. Interest in monitoring Dioxins has increased dramatically throughout Europe since a Dioxin scare during the summer of 1999. This past June grocery stores in Belgium frantically pulled food products from store shelves after learning that a cancer-causing dioxin in animal feed had spread through the Belgian food chain.
Paracelsian announced on July 15, 1999 the allowance of its latest patent application for the Ah Immunoassay. The assay is highly accurate and can be performed in the field in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost of other Dioxin testing methods currently available. The company also has foreign patent applications pending for this same technology, including pending applications in Japan and Europe. Paracelsian is confident that these applications will result in further patents being issued for this unique technology.
``This quick, accurate, portable and inexpensive test for dioxin and dioxin-like compounds is the key technology driving Paracelsian's environmental business and provides a powerful new tool in the worldwide effort to monitor the presence of these highly toxic materials in our environment,' stated Bernie Landes, Paracelsian President and CEO. ``While we have established sales targets for the initial one year term of the agreement, we are even more excited about expanding both the geographic scope of our distribution and the range of applications for the Ah Immunoassay to include food, soil, water, milk, and human serum. With the signing of this agreement, with the agreement already in place with Kubota Corporation, and with discussions ongoing for additional distribution agreements covering the People's Republic of China, the balance of the Pacific Rim and Australia, we believe that the Ah Immunoassay will quickly become the gold standard for monitoring highly toxic Dioxins in the environment,' he added.
