For a negative commentary on Nacchio's aggressive tendencies, read the latest issue of BUSINESS WEEK, the column on Information Technology. The heading reads QWEST, PULL THE PLUG ON THIS DEAL

Some excerpts-- "Most worrisome is what Nacchio's offer says about Qwest. By reaching for a couple of old-line phone companies, Nacchio is telegraphing that he's simply a telecom bureaucrat dressed up in Internet clothes. Owning US West would put Qwest in the residential phone business, a regulated industry that Nacchio has criticized for poor service and high prices."

"The acquisitions would completely defocus and stall the innovations now ongoing at Qwest."

"Nacchio says Qwest made the bids to bulk up for the race to become a global supercarrier. That may be a worthy goal. But not one that is best for Qwest's shareholders and the pace of innovation in the telecommunications industry."

Investors are saying they don't understand how the Qwest offer for FRO and USW make strategic sense and how USW fits with Qwest's revolutionary plans. Will he pull the plug? His psychological profile tells me "No". But that's one man's opinion.
