Don:

If you have the time could you please check your source to see if the 3% is 3% of the primary cell's cost (not the cell's selling price), before the cells are sold by the cell factory to the battery factory to be put together in the battery factory to make a complete battery? Or is it 3% of the cell's selling price to the battery factory? Or is it 3% of the cost of the battery (not the battery's selling price as it leaves the battery factory). Or is it 3% of the selling price of the battery? I know that it is not 3% of the retail selling price.

Also if you have the time, could you check to see if Del (reply #4248) is correct in stating that the up front payments are really prepaid royalties and not separate initial payments for which future royalties do not have to be off-set.

If they are prepaid royalties they should show as prepaid royalties (liability) on the ECD balance sheet and the liability should be reduced as the royalties come in (a debit to prepaid royalties and a credit to royalty income).

Thanks,

Michael
