Vitesse Selected by Lucent Technologies to Deliver Metro IC Products

CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 2003--Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq:VTSS - News) today announced that its Timestream(TM) family of products (VSC9186, VSC9187 and VSC9188) has been deployed in Lucent Technologies' Metropolis® DMX Access Multiplexer.

Vitesse's highly integrated Timestream family is part of its broad portfolio of Metro ICs and is designed to provide a total solution for SONET/SDH linecards. The Timestream family includes the VSC9186, an OC-192/STM-64, 4X OC-48/STM-16 pointer processor plus section and line terminator, featuring hardware based APS switching, B1, B2 and B3 error accumulation and BER calculation, and POH monitoring. The VSC9187, a 5G VT1.5 TSI switch, and the VSC9188, a 2.5G column aligner and pointer processor, offer industry leading density and robust functionality for grooming and switching at the VT1.5 level. The VSC9187 and VSC9188 products also feature hardware-based, GR-1400 CORE compliant, low-order UPSR selection and path termination of STS-1 traffic.
