Vitesse Selected by Lucent Technologies to Deliver Metro IC Products

CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 2003--Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq:VTSS - News) today announced that its Timestream(TM) family of products (VSC9186, VSC9187 and VSC9188) has been deployed in Lucent Technologies' Metropolis® DMX Access Multiplexer.
"Vitesse's solution provides considerable architectural benefits for DMX along with a high-level of functional integration," said Jay Fahey, Lucent's general manager of Metro-Access Systems. "The features and seamless integration of the VSC9186, VSC9187 and VSC9188 family was key. Vitesse's highly integrated Timestream family is part of its broad portfolio of Metro ICs and is designed to provide a total solution for SONET/SDH linecards. The Timestream family includes the VSC9186, an OC-192/STM-64, 4X OC-48/STM-16 pointer processor plus section and line terminator, featuring hardware based APS switching, B1, B2 and B3 error accumulation and BER calculation, and POH monitoring. The VSC9187, a 5G VT1.5 TSI switch, and the VSC9188, a 2.5G column aligner and pointer processor, offer industry leading density and robust functionality for grooming and switching at the VT1.5 level. The VSC9187 and VSC9188 products also feature hardware-based, GR-1400 CORE compliant, low-order UPSR selection and path termination of STS-1 traffic.
