I think your broker is shooting in the dark. Since the earnings report won't be announced until December there's no reason for the stock to falter in the interim. In fact the pattern typically involves a bump up in the days just prior to earnings news. Novell reminds me a lot of IBM at 43 just a little over 3 years ago or Citicorp at 10 a couple of years before that. IBM was pronounced dead by most of Wall Street and Citicorp was written off, termed insolvent by a good many insiders in the investment community. One good quarter and this stock goes up 50%. Sure it may not be till first quarter 97, but don't follow the lemmings till you can see what's on the other side. If they can't put up decent numbers in 97 then it may be time to look again. Meanwhile, this stock looks cheap!
