It would be nice to have all companies with the strengths of IBM. Probably all by itself causing the market to be in the green today. Here is the 12:00 noon report from Briefing.com

<<12:00 ET IBM Provides Leadership

Dow +55.99 at 8005.08, Nasdaq +16.05 at 1456.91, S&P +7.01 at 812.23

[BRIEFING.COM] Technology, which is the largest sector in the S&P 500, is up 2.2%. The sector's advance comes thanks to large-cap tech stocks.

IBM (IBM 89.29, +7.31) is up nearly 9% this session, challenging its January high. The advance comes after the company reported fourth quarter earnings of $3.28 per share, which is $0.25 better than the $3.03 per share that was widely expected. Big Blue also issued upside guidance for 2009; the company sees earnings of at least $9.20 per share, while analysts forecast earnings of $8.75 per share.

IBM is trading as a primary leader in all three major indices.>>
