sso,

I also had a friend which had an experience with a very premature baby and I hestitated to tell you about it, but I think maybe it would be good.

My friend who was older in regards to the time folks usually think about having kids -- approaching 50. His wife is somewhat younger.

My friend quit his job because he wanted to pursue a dream of developing a particular technology that he had envisioned. About 3 - 4 months after he had quit -- he found out that his wife was pregnant. She had a lot of trouble in the pregnancy. He called me one day to tell me that they had to deliver the baby very early -- he weighed
1 pound 12 oz. My friend was telling me about all the critical care that the child was receiving. I was ignorant of the situation -- with premies born that early. I thought to myself as he was describing this, "Oh, heartache upon heartache. A baby that small cannot survive." I just listened to my friend, dumbstruck, not able to offer him much encouragement while on the phone with him.

Nonetheless, I began praying for their baby and asked others also to pray in my Bible group at church. Finally I called my friend back, someone who had always been uncomfortable with discussions of faith or spiritual issues, and I told him directly that I was and would continue to be praying to God for his child. My friend and his wife had a very rough nine months after the birth. They lived at the hospital and because of their diligence, I know that they saved the life of their son more than once.

To make a long story short. His boy is a healthy little 3 year old boy today. He is a little smaller, but who can adequately describe the joy he has given his parents! Praise God who cares for all the little ones.

My hope and earnest prayer for your sister's children is that they grow up healthy and strong. I also pray that your sister and her husband will be drawn together tightly in love, because this is probably going to be the hardest thing they've ever done. I also pray that the community in which they live will provide all the support they can.

Please keep us posted, sso. What a special time. Please update us on your father's progress. My Dad had 5 bypasses 2 years ago. He is doing very well. He swims daily and takes more supplements than I can count, but something must be working for him.

the friend that I told you about above -- he has had a real setback in commercializing his technology. He is trying to bring his computer skills up-to date in order to find employment locally. I know that his finances must be strained considerably. Will you pray for him? I'm hesistant to mention him by name here.
