Larry,

The recently cited World Com takeover of MCI was essentially the same sort of deal. If Baby Bells are taken over by independents the regulatory side of the deal becomes much simpler. Furthermore, as I pointed out in an earlier post, BLS may want Nacchio to take charge of the entire operation.

If Nacchio had stayed at AT&T I doubt if we'd be having this discussion. A few years ago nobody heard of Qwest, now we're probably getting more press than AT&T. If we merge with BLS, US West and Frontier do you think we'll leave the antiquated copper wire in place, or upgrade and offer Cable TV, DSL, etc to the customer base. If AT&T can bypass the LEC's with MediaOne's Cable we should be able to upgrade the LEC and supply all services. What happens to the 15% growth rate then.
