Comparing HTML and XML is like comparing a car with iron. They can never replace each other but have many things to do with each other. XML is a more advanced way to store data than tabbed ascii files.
Good inventions are used. There is no idea in a good invention, if it is too expensive to use. The deep plate is used every time I eat soup. So that's a good invention.
Linux is not derived from any specific Unix. There are many things from different Unix's, and many things are different than other Unix's.
Dijkstra is dutch, not danish.
In Europe, only companies and computer-interested people use DSL. Cable modems are not used much over here, but people without computer knowledge use ISDN (it is much easier to use than in the US, believe me!). DSL is only showing up the last couple of years, whereas ISDN has been reality since 1990. ISDN is also used for backup to leased lines, because you can connect 2Mbps or more in much less than a second, without having the bandwidth preallocated. In Denmark, year 1999 was the year when DSL was nation-wide available, and year 2000 is the year where DSL will be widely adopted amongst non-technical computer users.
Now that I have corrected some of you factual mistakes, I will not start to compete with you on who can mention the most examples of who invented what. That would be stupid. |
