I hope that I didn't use the expression "real food"!

My sister is vegetarian as are a number of my friends. I've never seen much sense in running around trying to serve ersatz versions of foods, whether I am entertaining vegetarians, people with food allergies, or people on restricted diets. It's on a par with serving cheap cuts of meats when using the best is necessary: Rather than ruin a dish or reach for a result that is really not attainable, I have always believed in using one's ingenuity to meet the requirements of guests while serving them food that is really delicious and healthful.

It can be a bit of a challenge when the guests have multiple restrictions, but, as you know all too well, life itself is a challenge. Anything or anyone that is precious is well worth the challenges.

Which brings us to gaugie's first rule of vegetar: "Don't worry about offending vegetarians; worry about them offending you."

Hmmm. I never even thought of being offended by a vegetarian! Of course, I've not had much contact with the "holier-than-thou" types, if they are whom you mean.
