THE BUZZ AT THE BELL The tech correction continued today without relief. The Nasdaq fell 286 points, and is now 27% below the record high of 5,132 that it reached in March. Guess what folks? The Nasdaq is now bear country. The Dow, which had spent much of the day in positive territory, finally succumbed to the sell-off going on in the Nasdaq and dropped like a rock in the final half-hour of trading. It closed down 162 points for the day. Finally, in the unlikely event that you haven't yet heard, Unilever announced two acquisitions today: Ben & Jerry's, the maker of super rich ice cream, and SlimFast, the maker of diet shakes. We'd love to crack jokes here ("They're targeting the Binge Niche!"), but we know we can't compete against the late night talk show hosts who will be all over this one.
