From one release:
In that report it will be reporting that although under current market conditions it expects the demand for its products and services to decline during the remainder of 1998, income from continuing operations, excluding the previously announced merger charge, is expected to exceed 1997 full year income of $2.01 per fully diluted shares.

And the other:
the year will not meet current estimates of around $2.63...Weatherford still expected earnings per share for the whole of 1998 to exceed the equivalent 1997 figure... We earned $1.80 last year and we expect earnings to be up from that.

.......
So they think they will earn over 1.80 and maybe 2.00 for this year. The YTD for 6 months is .86, so they are saying 1.00 or so for the 2nd half of the year.

Galletly said EVI Weatherford was not making any predictions at this point about its earnings in 1999.

But 1999 is, of course, wildly unknown. This stock seems worth the present price to me. But the market evidently thinks the 2nd half of this year is also wildly unknown and is discounting the company's expectations.
