thecow, Comcast cable came back an hour ago. Must have been a local system problem. The help line techs often don't know that local techs are working on something.

Those lights flashing on the modem are beautiful :)

PS: installed a firewire card and imported a DV home movie using Windows Movie Maker. Easy, but now I have to learn editing.
