Combining drug revenues and kidnapping revenues, the thugs have taken over the majority of Columbia. The only thing that might keep them from spreading more, might be a desire not to jeopardize their current holdings. << Some of those drug runners are very good to the townspeople, and the police/military are seen as enemies. >> An interesting point. Flip a coin, in some of these South American countries, to tell who is worse, the government or the thugs. Among the worst thugs are those in North Korea. They are building missiles that can target the US. Why? The only reason, to me, is that they want to invade South Korea as a means to improve their economy, etc., and they want to be able to threaten the US in order to limit our retaliation.
