If many of you wish to understand the Arab-Israeli conflict - and how it relates to broader MidEast matters - its origins and a realistic feel for life in these countries at that time and thereafter, I highly recommend the following books

1. The Hope, by Herman Wouk, author of The Winds of War, among other classics

2. Escape and Whirlwind by James Clavell, author of Shogun and The Noble House

3. Exodus by Leon Uris

For an idea of what might happen if we don't immediately take action to destroy terrorism, you may wish to read a novel written by Nevil Shute, the shattering On the Beach.
