While NOLA was rocked by Katrina, Nagin sat in his room at the New Orleans Hyatt (using the one electric generator he could commandeer to power the elevators at the Hyatt so he didn't have to traverse the stairs), shivering from fear, while Terry Ebbert tried to undo the damage from Nagin's inept planning.

This is silly. Your attitude on this subject suggests you have never been in a bad disaster. I have.....in the first hours [and even longer] after the disaster has hit, people are in shock and are not functioning properly and that means everyone, including Mr. Ebbert, who I believe is the guy who told the feds that the breach of the levees was not that bad; helping to slow the response by the feds. Under the circumstances.....a bad hurricane and an dysfunctional FEMA, I believe Nagin performed reasonably well. And the citizens of NO seem to agree.....that's why they re elected him. The weak link seems to have been the governor and she was voted out of office.

We don't know how well Obama will handle adversity because he hasn't done it; he hasn't been 'tested', so to speak. He may do fine. But he could very well be like Nagin -- frightened, overwhelmed, inundated, when times get tough.

Obama is head and shoulders above Nagin. That's my gut speaking.....I don't have to look at facts and figures to know that's true. Three weeks ago, there was a crisis in our economy.......Obama's reaction was cool and calm. McCain's......drama queen. I'll take Obama's response over McCain's any day of the week.
