Liquidity theory would indicate your #1 contention.
Also, Japanese folks are scarred and can not stand the nose bleed territory that we were in. HK folks also tends to trade in/out of the new age stocks available here, equally scarred by the red chip fury of two years back.
Now that we think we know the nature of the game, we can play accordingly. Scary though.
