Perhaps I could have been clearer--of course I meant the Mac Mini. The discussion was about Don selling in the mid-30s vs. hanging on, so we were talking about a sale probably in the September 2004 time frame.

Of course you don't go broke taking a profit, and I was not criticizing Don's trade. I never said he "made a bad trade." I was merely stating that it would have been better to wait and that:

there's no way I think it's possible to rationalize NOT holding onto Apple the past few months as a good/right investment move.

I'm not going to quote what Don may have written, but others said he sold on the basis of the stock maxing out based on the iPod. Clearly this was incorrect, as the stock still doubled before the Mac Mini was introduced.

FWIW, I am still holding all my AAPL, and it is NOT based on the explicit expectation of a rise in market share. I am holding because--for the moment, at least--I think the upside potential is quite a bit greater than the downside. My opinion could change at any moment.
