because of all the allegedly moral people whose only outrage is at bad publicity for our side.

And the selective outrage at double standards, I would add.

Part of the madness is that "morality" has been co-opted to equate to "us" rather than a set of principles that apply across the board. In my mind, the madness is the polarization and subsequent demonization of anyone who is not with the program. That particular madness has been overtaking us for a while now. This scenario is the perfect storm.
