Toshiba Adds New DVD-Equipped Notebooks

The Computer Systems Division of Toshiba American Information Systems, Inc. has introduced the Satellite 4100XDVD and 4090DVD, notebook computers. The two new notebooks, aimed at business users with demanding multimedia requirements, feature a 14.1-inch active matrix display, 64MB SDRAM (expandable to 192MB), an integrated V.90/K56flex modem, and Toshiba's 3D sound system with stereo bass reflex speakers. The on-board Toshiba SD-C2102 2.4X max DVD drives offer complete backward-compatibility with existing CD media. Each notebook offers Toshiba's Customer Choice Software program, which allows users to select up to five software titles to suit their individual needs or they can order the Lotus SmartSuite Millennium Edition software package. Estimated street price for the Satellite 4090XDVD is $2,399; the 4100XDVD is $2,799.
