To hell with all Hitlers and such facile beliefs that nations have "...biologically determined destinations in which to expand, ..." and I beg you, dear Cobalt, not to take me too literally: the westerly drift of Earth civilisations' rise and fall, if it exists at all, did not begin in the Mid-East -- I merely picked a spot midway in the sea of time. It's been two decades since I last browsed Levy-Strauss. I remember him describing the enormous import certain Amazon people (Tupi Guarani?) attach to their tattoos -- because without those tattoos they would not be themselves, they would be naked, like all the other animals. I cannot help but think that mobile phones etc. etc. make good tattoos. (Back to lurk. I have so much to do that I am going to bed.)
