I been looking for more information on Mr. Matthews .. this is his background: Chris Matthews honed his political skills through a long career as aide to Senator Edmund S. Muskie, speechwriter for President Jimmy Carter and, from 1981 through 1986, as administrative assistant and spokesman for Speaker of the House Thomas P. "Tip" O'Neill, Jr. He is a graduate of Holy Cross and studied economics at the University of North Carolina graduate school. He served with the U.S. Peace Corps in Swaziland, a black-ruled kingdom in Southern Africa. Hardly sounds like a conservative to me. I have heard him take liberal positions in the past. (such as redistribution of income). Maybe someone else has more information.
