I think ADSL is cheaper and quicker to implement than cable
and fibre. But clearly the telcos haven't decided to remain as
a telephone company or contents supplier. With the
introduction of PCS, the telcos could loose a lot of telephone
customers. In order to keep them, they have to offer something
better like video-phone. The worse that can happen to telcos
is when consumers start using PCS (for voice, email, pager)
and cable (for video and internet). My conclusion is that the
telcos have to act quickly to install ADSL offering data, video
and voice.
