Periods of time (some years) when lower rates were in effect recorded *no* decrease in size of government.

In fact, saw large increases.

Government simply continued to deficit-spend all that it wanted to, utilizing the expedient of simply BORROWING all that it needed to to fund that expansion.

In fact, over the past 30 years the *only time* there has been a sustained and SIGNIFICANT decline in the size of government as a percentage of GNP was over the eight years of the Clinton administration....

There is no convincing evidence after all these years of trying that shows that the size of government can be decreased simply by lowering nominal tax rates. As long as deficit spending is allowed the politicians consistently continue to spend and the government continues to grow.
