Taiwan's top five makers of TFT panels rolled out a total of 539,000 units in February, up 31.5 percent from January. Since the beginning of February, when demand started heating up, the industry has sensed a hint of spring in the air. Could this be the "Cardboard Box Indicator" for the PC industry? I believe these TFT displays were a real bottleneck in shipping laptops in late 1999 when people wer buying PCs like mad in preparation for Y2K.
