Conservatives make a big mistake when they try to treat government institutions like private businesses. They are not subject to the same checks and balances as private business. They have a monopoly on the use of violence to impose their will. They are a completely different animal. Rumsfeld is a reformer. Reforming government institution is virtually impossible. I admire the hell out of him for trying. I'm not surprised that there are a ton of people in DC who want him to go away. These folks on this thread forgot the capitalist component to conservatism.
