even a friendly government can be quite inutile as an ally against terrorists taking shelter within its borders, Heck.. 9/11 was plotted from Hamburg Germany, with training carried out right here in the US.... I'm under no illusions about stopping separate acts of terrorism.. What I want to achieve is reverse the conditions that have precipitated it, namely totalitarian regimes and militant clerics answerable to no one but themselves. And maybe along the way we can prevent them from carrying out large scale attacks. We've spent far too much time being blamed for the problems of the middle east. So if we're going to be blamed to the point where we are militarily targeted by militants, then by-god, I guess we should try to do something to reshape the political and cultural landscape there rather than just sitting on the sidelines catching the flak.
