If we simply take the cap off of SS taxes, we fix the system.

I don't trust the Govt to take the cap off the system correctly. Remember back in 1983 when Congress said they "fixed" the system by doubling payroll taxes? Sure tons of new money came into the trust fund's front door and then went right out the back door as spending from the general fund. Ooops the SS system isn't fixed. I'm all in favor of taking the cap off of SS taxes and making high income people pay up and also receive benefits, however, they have to make sure that those excess revenues to SS aren't simply spent like they are now from 1983 through today...Since Govt can't seem to control spending, the solution IMO would be yearly adjust the cap levels to make sure that there is only enough extra $ flowing in to make the required payments out and NO MORE than that.
